Each applicant may submit only one project per program. The objectives, guidelines, and funding opportunities for each program are described in the application guidelines [available for download in the corresponding section].
Background and Objectives
Promote emerging, high-risk, and high-impact research. Identify, at a very early stage, fundamental or innovative research that could lead to conceptual or technological breakthroughs;
To facilitate the launch of projects with national or international scope;
Contribute to UGA’s science policy and its socioeconomic and cultural impact.
Eligibility Criteria
A single applicant may submit only one project per program.
The IRGA call for projects is open to the entire scientific and academic community of the University of Grenoble Alpes (Université Grenoble Alpes). The project leader must be an active, tenured member (researcher, faculty member, or research engineer with a Ph.D.) of a research unit under the supervision of UGA.
Members of the executive boards of the research divisions, the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation, and emeritus researchers or faculty members may not serve as principal investigators on a project.
Organizations such as federations or platforms cannot submit project proposals.
Funding is awarded on a project-by-project basis; project leaders must demonstrate the need for the requested funds.
A project sponsor that has already received funding under an IRGA call for proposals may not submit a new project under the same program until the funds received have been fully utilized.
For the “Emerging Exploratory Projects” program, submission of a greenhouse gas inventory (GHG) is mandatory. If this document is missing from the application, the project is ineligible.
Project Funding
Projects involving national or international academic partners outside the scope of UGA’s research clusters, or stakeholders from the socioeconomic or cultural sectors, are eligible; however, only activities carried out by laboratories within UGA’s research clusters will be funded.
Evaluation and Selection Process
The evaluation and selection process will comply with the code of conduct for implementing a call for proposals, particularly with regard to the handling of conflicts of interest.
Committee members will be required to submit a declaration of conflicts of interest. All members of committees and advisory bodies are required to comply with confidentiality and ethical standards. Advisory bodies will be exempt from the requirement to declare conflicts of interest.
