The Low-Temperature Systems Department (DSBT) conducts research and development in cryotechnology, focusing primarily on cryogenics for large scientific instruments, space cryogenics, and laser target cryogenics. The expertise developed is applied to instrument development in collaboration with other IRIG programs and its partners, as well as to the study of turbulence in cryogenic fluids. In addition, the DSBT manages the helium liquefiers at CEA Grenoble and ensures the supply of cryogenic fluids and nitrogen to that facility.
